Why a Sixth-Century Monk Would Beat You at Email

What if the solution to your inbox was worked out 1,500 years ago?

Benedict of Nursia wrote a rule for monks that reshaped Western civilisation. His instructions on attention, routine and silence anticipate most of what we now call productivity advice. The inbox that never empties is not a new problem. It is an old one wearing new clothes. Benedict's answer was not better technology but better rhythm — fixed times for work, rest and reading. The principle still works, even if the monastery doesn't.

That's the idea.
