Big Ideas for Short Journeys

There is only so much inbox checking, news refreshing and half-hearted scrolling a person can do before reaching the office.

The Commuter's Briefing offers an alternative: intelligent short reads for busy people who remain curious about the world. Discover the psychology behind familiar behaviour, overlooked lessons from history, accessible introductions to important books and ideas that may prove unexpectedly useful at work.

No jargon. No waffle. No 400-page commitment. Just one memorable idea for the journey ahead.

Read one briefing on the way to work and you may arrive with a sharper question, a useful story or a new way of seeing something you thought you already understood.

Think Smarter Than Your Brain

The Hidden Psychology Behind Five Everyday Sayings

Give them the benefit of the doubt. Birds of a feather. Meet someone halfway. We hear these phrases so often they fade into the wallpaper — yet each one carries a piece of psychology worth pausing over. In this briefing, James Allen takes five familiar sayings and uncovers the biases hiding beneath them: the shortcuts that colour how we judge people, negotiate and decide. He draws on behavioural research, everyday examples and workplace dilemmas to make the ideas stick — without the jargon that usually accompanies them. By the final page you will hear these old expressions differently, and notice the quiet patterns at work in your own decisions.
